parnassah-expoTwo years ago, Reb Duvi Honig founded Kollel Zichron Mordechai Yosef, known as the Learn and Network Kollel, a revolutionary infrastructure that helps fill a tremendous need within the community. The kollel features a daily afternoon seder, with structured limudim and shiurim. New shiurim and chavrusashafts are constantly added at the kollel‘s bais medrash, which attracts a growing and diverse crowd, and the chizuk shmuess by a noted guest speaker each Thursday evening wraps up the week. A growing group of bnei Torah and baalei batim now utilizes the kollel as a source of ruchniyusdige nourishment.

In addition to the solid learning schedule, the Learn and Network program enables its members to network and progress in their quest to earn a parnassah. Career coaches, business startup experts, and consultants and professionals within any given field address the kollel on a weekly basis and are available for follow-up consultation. Various job placement and parnassah assistance organizations, including PCS and the Emergency Parnassa Initiative (EPI), and various government agencies, are affiliated with the Learn and Network Kollel, whose members enjoy full access to their resources. The kollel also boasts a close relationship with the LRRC and Chemed, helping members overcome their financial rough patches.

Beyond the myriad human, governmental and organizational resources that the Learn and Network Kollel offers, it is the impromptu networking that is perhaps the kollel‘s best kept secret.

“We have people of all ages and stripes in the kollel,” says Reb Duvi, “but there is a tremendous sense of achdus, and I see literally each day how everyone helps each other.”

Members have helped each other find jobs, begin business ventures and choose a fruitful parnassah path. Some members have partnered with each other. There is practically no field that hasn’t been occupied by the kollel‘s members, whether in the white collar or blue collar business world, or in chinuch and tzedakah organizations.

With these accomplishments in mind, Reb Duvi has taken his success several steps further and will be presenting a much anticipated Parnassah Expo today, 3 Adar/February 26, at Bais Yaakov High School, from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for women and 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for men.

Prominent corporations from across the northeast, along with dozens of small and midsize community businesses, will have booths at the expo. Representatives of various headhunting corporations and employment agencies and organizations will be present to help match up parnassah seekers with prospective employers and ventures.

“We’ve gathered many of the resources and contacts that we’ve amassed in recent years and are bringing them all under one roof,” Reb Duvi explains.

The myriad booths and programs at the Expo have been meticulously arranged in an effective fashion, so that every attendee will get to interact with all those who can be of help to them.

The first section of the Expo will be a job fair, where various open positions, in both the business and chinuch worlds, will be posted, and prospects will be able to pursue them. The second section will be comprised of the various headhunting corporations and employment organizations. The third section will feature information about a variety of courses and classes in a broad spectrum of fields. This section will include information about Learn and Network’s new partnership with Ocean County College’s vocational institute, which offers our community courses in electric, plumbing, automotive/HVAC repair and other blue collar professions in a special kosher setting, which was previously not available to our community.

The Expo’s final section will feature various professionals, including business consultants, real estate experts, attorneys and accountants, who will network and advise those in their particular field, or those contemplating entering it, on any questions they may have.

The Expo will also feature many continuous workshops on myriad topics.
