Passenger Traffic At Ben Gurion Airport Up 1.4% In 2012

ben-gurionBen Gurion Airport handled 12.4 million passengers in 2012, 1.4% more than in 2011, the Israel Airports Authority reported today, as reported by Globes. The airport handled 89,700 takeoffs and landings in 2012, 0.6% fewer than in 2011. Domestic passenger traffic fell 2.5% from 2011 to 733,000 in 2012.

Globes reported that El Al was the top carrier at Ben Gurion Airport in 2012, carrying 4.09 million passengers, 2% more than in 2011. The carrier’s market share was unchanged at 33%. Arkia Airlines was in second place, carrying 466,000 international passengers in 2012, 17% fewer than in 2011. Lufthansa was in the third place, carrying 428,000 passengers in 2012, 7% fewer than in 2011. Turkish Airlines carried 364,800 passengers in 2012, 9.3% more than in 2011, United Airlines carried 361,700 passengers, 2% more than the year before, and Alitalia carried 325,400 passengers, up 12.4%.
