paul-ryanFormer GOP vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan’s poverty reform is off to a rocky start. Ryan appeared on Bill Bennett’s Morning in America on Wednesday, and told the conservative host that part of his agenda is to create work requirements to deal with the “real culture problem” of men “in our inner cities.”

Ryan told the host: “We have got this tailspin of culture, in our inner cities in particular, of men not working and just generations of men not even thinking about working or learning the value and the culture of work, and so there is a real culture problem here that has to be dealt with.”

In releasing a 204-page report on American anti-poverty programs, Ryan argued that the programs have actually contributed to the high rate of poverty. Read more at Think Progress.

  1. Paul Ryan is like an axe that wants to break free of the hand of the swinging axeman. He does not fix the problem. He does not want to understand the problem. He wants to be let loose to speak the irresponsible character that makes up his fraud.

Ultimately, the innercity has many drawbacks, let alone, poor schools, poor education and poor homes. I think that if you want to attack the nature of the men and women who live there, you need to understand that they are underprivileged and then address that. Mr. Ryan is like a gestappo agent who wants to see your papers and does not care if you are helping your own day by only hoping for a better future. And on that, I would excuse Mr. Ryan for his own soul is underprivileged.

    Never Again.

  2. “create work requirements”

In order for a work requirement to work, you need jobs. Does Ryan plan on creating them? The “job creators” certainly have not!

  3. #3, and neither has the Obama Administration.

More and more people are quitting looking for work. The performance of the U.S economy has been dismal for the five plus years Obama has occupied the White House.

It’s high time we elect new leadership in 2014 & in 2016 that knows what it is doing to turn this country around from its long exposure to extreme left-wing policies emanating from Washington, D.C.

  4. #3 – has hit the nail on the head. In fact, the same problem is now rampant, and in the suburbs, too. There are not enough jobs. Period. And if you don’t have a high school diploma, forget it. In fact, if all you have is a BA, forget it. With a specialized master’s degree – maybe or maybe not. With rich, influential parents – well, you’re OK.

The best predictor of how much someone in this country makes is still – how much did dear old Dad make?

Underfund schools and you underfund the future. And that’s exactly what we’re doing. When we’re all taking Chinese as a required second language, maybe someone will wake up – too late.
