Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf issued has a moratorium on death-penalty executions, pending the results of a study on its value. There are 186 prisoners on the Keystone State’s death row, but according to a statement Wolf released Friday, capital punishment is “a flawed system that has been proven to be an endless cycle of court proceedings as well as ineffective, unjust, and expensive.”

Wolf, a Democrat, added, “This moratorium is in no way an expression of sympathy for the guilty on death row, all of whom have been convicted of committing heinous crimes.” Read more at Philly.com.

  1. The evidence is quite convincing that many persons in the US who are given death sentences are not in fact guilty of the crimes for which they have been convicted.

The evidence is even more convincing that courts in the US do not meet even the minimum standards for Noachide courts as set down in the gemara in Sanhedrin and codified by Rambam. Noachide courts require eyewitness testimony to administer a death penalty, US courts don’t.

Kudos to Wolf for doing the right thing.
