Pentagon Ordered to Investigate How Church Killer’s Charges Missed Gun Check System

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has directed the Pentagon to investigate how the Air Force failed to report to the FBI that the Texas church shooter had been convicted for assaulting his wife and stepson, the AP reported Tuesday. Devin Patrick Kelley had previously been discharged from the Air Force after being court-martialed for the assaults in 2012.

 

The FBI is supposed to be informed of crimes committed by military personnel so they can be entered into its National Criminal Information Center database. “If the problem is we didn’t put something out,” Mattis said. “We’ll correct that.” Read more.
