Texas Gov. Rick Perry slammed the Obama administration on Sunday for being too tough on a group of Marines photographed urinating on the dead bodies of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan.
“Obviously, 18, 19 year-old kids make stupid mistakes all too often, and that’s what’s occurred here,” Perry said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Perry said the soldiers should be punished but that criminal charges are excessive.
“What is really disturbing to me is the over-the-top rhetoric from this administration and their disdain for the military it appears,” Perry said.
U.S. and Afghan officials have condemned the incident, and a military investigation is underway. The Geneva Convention bans desecrating the dead.

The Geneva Cinvensitons protect our troops too. When the US starts disrespecting it in such a vile way it puts our own soldiers at risk. If some teenage Taliban had done this to American soldiers’ bodies, would Mr. Perry be singing the same tune?

I happen to agree that they should not be charged criminally, but get other punishments. Like loos pay, or work longer hours no vacation etc..
The fact is, they killed terrorists and had to stand over their bodies. that alone could be very stress full. We know how stress full this whole war was on a lot of these men. I Don’t think its not anything worse then water boarding and in the case of terrorism it should be ok. We are forgetting what 9/11 looked like. these soldiers I guess did not forget why they went there in the first place in 2001.
I don’t think that anything could be much more stressful than what Israeli soldiers went through in 1973. Those of us who were there remember how it almost ch”v became another Holocaust. A lot of our soldiers were also “just kids” and they didn’t do any such thing. This stress business is a cop-out. War is not a high-school football game. It’s for keeps. Acting like this just means that other American soldiers are at risk. If nothing else, these guys should be court-martialed for sheer stupidity.
Perry is a scoundrel with a very sophisticated gait and walk. Give him some blessings and he will squander your smile.
