internet-asifa-lakewood-1[Photos below.] Lakewood – An asifa was held at two Lakewood, NJ, banquet halls last night to offer words of hisorerus and guidance in light of the spiritual challenges presented by technology and specifically the internet.

The Ateres Chana and Lakewood Terrace Halls were designated for the men’s asifa, with rabbonim filling the daises in both halls and many hundreds of residents attending.

Tehillim was led by Rav Aharon Schustal and speakers included Rav Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha, Lakewood; Rav Matisyahu Salomon, mashgiach of Beth Medrash Govoha, Lakewood; Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin, rosh yeshiva, Telshe and Mesivta of Lakewood; and Rav Elya Brudny, R”M, Mirrer Yeshiva, Brooklyn.

The event was scheduled to run from 8:15 to 10:30. The program ended at about 11 p.m.

Sixteen communities joined the event via live hookup. An asifa earlier last night in Boro Park was addressed by the Skulener Rebbe and others. An asifa in Monsey was addressed by Rav Ephraim Wachsman. A similar gathering will be held this Sunday in Williamsburg.

An asifa for women in Lakewood is being planned.
