IMG_9459New York – Top lawmen from all over the state of NY and NJ sat down for a briefing on counter terrorism and other Big Apple police techniques as they met with New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton and his senior staff on Monday.

Law Enforcement Chaplain Rabbi Abe Friedman led a delegation of sheriffs, including Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois, Sullivan County Sheriff Michael Schiff and Undersheriff Eric Chaboty and Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco. Sheriffs from other parts of the state also participated.

DuBois said in addition to terrorism, they shared topics concerning training, community relations, technology and a number of other issues.

“They are the cutting edge police department in the world,” DuBois said. “They strive to have the best technology, the best training and the best tactical operations so listening to Commissioner Bratton speak was a great benefit to us all. In the end, we are all partners in law enforcement and I feel fortunate that I am close enough to New York City, even Sheriff Falco and Sheriff Schiff from Sullivan County, that we have this have technology and this partner right next door.”

Also participating in the session were sheriffs from Jefferson, Broome, Albany, Green, Oneida and other upstate counties and the sheriff of Passaic County, New Jersey.

Rabbi Friedman praised the delegation of Sheriffs for protecting their counties especially those who see an influx of the Jewish community during summer season.

Sullivan County Sheriff Michael Schiff said ythat “the visit was very informative and gave us first hand look on how the NYPD fight terror while working with community.”
