Hespeidim were delivered in the Bendheim Bais Medrash of the Adolph and Ethel Beren Building on the yeshiva‘s campus on Seventh Street, between Forest Avenue and Lakewood Avenue, with live audio hook-ups throughout the yeshiva and outside to accommodate the crowd of approximately 18,000, which filled the streets surrounding the yeshiva.

In Lakewood, hespeidim were delivered by Rav Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha; the Novominsker Rebbe, Rav Yaakov Perlow, Rosh Agudas Yisroel; Rav Yeruchem Olshin, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha; Rav Yaakov Horowitz, rov of the Telzer Minyan of Boro Park and rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Bais Meir; Rav Dovid Goldberg, rosh yeshiva at Yeshivas Telshe-Cleveland; Rav Avrohom Ausband, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva of Telshe Alumni of Riverdale; Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin, rosh yeshiva of Mesivta of Lakewood and Yeshivas Telshe; and Rav Matisyahu Salomon, mashgiach of Beth Medrash Govoha.

Thousands listened into the Lakewood hespeidim via live audio hookups on Kol Halashon and other phone networks, and the hespeidim were also broadcast live on 107.9-Kol Berama, Lakewood’s frum radio station.

The levaya was held with a heavy security presence from the Lakewood Police Department, with snipers visible on the roofs of the surrounding buildings. On 12-hour notice, the Police Department, in conjunction with the Department of Emergency Management, Chaveirim and others, made the necessary arrangements to handle the enormous number of people. Attendees were asked to park their cars in the Clifton Avenue area to minimize the congestion in the vicinity of the levaya.

Following the hespeidim at Beth Medrash Govoah, at about 4 p.m., the aron was escorted down Seventh Street and up Forest Avenue toward County Line Road accompanied by the massive crowd of thousands.  The aron was then taken to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York for a 7 p.m. flight to Eretz Yisroel.

This morning, upon arrival in Eretz Yisroel, the aron was slated to be brought to Yeshivas Mir-Yerushalayim, where hespeidim were to be delivered by the rosh yeshiva, Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel, and others.

Kevurah will take place on Har Hamenuchos in Yerushalayim, near Rav Meir Shapiro of Lublin, founder of Daf Yomi, of which, as is well known, Rav Chaim Stein completed about 9-10 cycles.
