Who are these people? When I went to visit people in maimonides I heard pretty bad stories from the patients. Outside of maimonides I’ve heard worse stories from patients or patients next of kin. Stories include people starving in the er due to “no room available” or “Transportation team coming” etc. could result in a homicide (no I’m not talking about healthy patients. I’m talking about patients with major health issues when they came in and don’t need more issues. I’m talking about a patient with a complicated medical issue waiting for a transfer to another hospital where his doctor is located didn’t get his vitals taken for 24 hrs prior to his transfer. Then the transfer wouldn’t take him cause his vitals were bad! This same person didn’t get food for more than 36 hrs. Another patient with a compromised immune system having an infection received their iv meds only to not open the valve wheel (medication drip not activated). I can go on and on.
While we all recognize the many good ending stories emanating from maimonides, every patient who suffered as a result of maimonides NEGLIGENCE! is a father, a mother, a sibling son or daughter or just a relative. The suffering does not stop by the patient (whose suffering is usually to much to bear), it destroys familys, kids lives get messed up.
If only Hatzalah leadership would work more together with feedback organizations, with the community, encourage more focusing on issues in addition to individual patients upon arrival in the er (which they already do a phenominal job!) it would force maimonides to clean up their act! Yes, maimonides does countless great things. However, When it comes to LIVES, nothing is enough. Dragging feet rectifying issues and rather just working on covering up issues (“like hiring the critics”) is homicide. And the person that got the job or even the dual loyalty people are guilty as well!
