As a show of support and solidarity to the local police in Atlanta, Rabbi Ilan Feldman, senior rabbi at Congregation Beth Jacob of Atlanta, Georgia, brought a pizza lunch and kind words to the police headquarters of the Dekalb County Police Department.
Many members of the shul attended as well.
Rabbi Feldman spoke of the great importance of supporting the local police and first responders, and that every Shabbos a special prayer is said in shul during davening for the wellbeing and safe return of those who protect us and put their lives on the line for us.
Rabbi Feldman gave the officers cards that the Beth Jacob preschoolers wrote expressing their gratitude to the police for all they do on the public’s behalf.

Nice gesture to the DeKalb Police Department after his wife’s employee trespassed on my property; a police report was filed with the same police department.
A d’var torah for Rabbi Feldman:
Parshas Balak talks about an interesting fellow named Bilaam; there is an interesting pasuk in the text in which Rashi makes a compelling commentary, “מַה-טֹּבוּ אֹהָלֶיךָ, יַעֲקֹב; מִשְׁכְּנֹתֶיךָ, יִשְׂרָאֵל.” What exactly was Bilaam noticing in this pasuk? Rashi says, that the tents were positioned in their encampments such that the doorways did not face each other. This was done for the sake of privacy. More specifically, some things are meant to remain private within the confines of the tents of Yaakov; also, the tents were situated in a position in which they weren’t interested in their neighbor’s business.
Obviously, my tent is not situated in a position in which I am interested in your organization’s business; my tent is also not situated in a position any where near the Beth Jacob neighborhood. For the sake of privacy, my household wishes to remain private! My mother and I didn’t appreciate a representative of Temima High School trespassing; so you can understand the filed police report.
