Last night, gedolei Torah and admorim gathered at the home of the Kaliver Rebbe of Brooklyn, NY, to discuss the crisis impacting thousands of children whose parents have immigrated from Europe to Eretz Yisroel without proper chinuch arrangements being made for them. This has resulted in many children being enrolled in educational institutions devoid of all Yiddishkeit.
Gedolei Torah at the meeting included Rav Dovid Feinstein, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Tiferes Yerushalayim in New York City; the Skulener Rebbe; Rav Zalman Leib Teitelbaum of Satmar; Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Bais Medrash Govoah in Lakewood, NJ; and Rav Aharon Feldman, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Ner Yisroel in Baltimore, MD.
Despite being very unwell and weak, and experiencing immense yissurim, the Kaliver Rebbe hosted and attended the meeting. His son, Rav Berel, who was recently in Europe, described the plight of the Jews who have immigrated or are planning to immigrate because of the worsening security situation in France and elsewhere.
The religious future of most of the children of these families will be non-existent unless something is done, he said.
