Photos: Skverer Rebbe in Toronto, Preparations for Uplifting Shabbos

[Photos below.] This Shabbos, Parshas Ki Sisa/Parah, will be a grand celebration Shabbos for Skverer Chassidim, as Rav Dovid Twersky, the Skverer Rebbe, is in Toronto. The last Shabbos that the Rebbe led in Toronto was 10 years ago, on Shabbos Parshas Tzav/ Parah, March 25, 2000. Though 10 years have passed, memories of that exhilarating Shabbos are often recounted.

As news of the Rebbe’s agreement to be in Toronto spread, parallel committees were set up in Toronto and in New York to coordinate all the necessary arrangements. Hundreds of chassidim from all over the world have come to Toronto to participate. Lodging, meals, and travel have been arranged. Rabbi Sholom Dov Ber Fishel, president of the Skverer community in Monsey, assumed the directorship of these committees.

The large Bais Yaakov Hall has been reserved and the Shabbos tefillos and tish will take place there.

The Rebbe is being hosted at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Shimon Werner and Mr. and Mrs. Yosef Meyer Solomon. In addition, sections of the Bais Yaakov Hall facility have been outfitted for meals.

The Rebbe arrived in Toronto on Wednesday and will remain there until this coming Thursday, March 11.

A kabbolas ponim for the Rebbe was held last night, with the participation of rabbonei ha’ir, at Agudas Yisroel of Toronto on McGillivray Avenue.

Mincha this afternoon at the Bais Yaakov Hall on Saranac Blvd. will begin at 6:15 p.m. The tish tonight will start at 9:30 p.m. Shacharis tomorrow is at 9:30 a.m. The afternoon tish at 4:45 p.m. will be followed by Minchah at 5:45 and seudah shlishis at 6:45.
