divrei-chaim-sefer-torah-23[Photos below.] On the first day of Shavuos, a hachnosas Sefer Torah of a Sefer Torah used by the Divrei Chaimof Sanz, the founder of the Sanz dynasty, and later by his oldest son, the Shinever Rov, was held. The Sefer Torah was recently purchased by Rav Zalman Leib Teitelbaum of Satmar, a descendant of the Divrei Chaim, from other descendants of the Divrei Chaim who had inherited it from their forefathers.

The Sefer Torah was sold by Rabbis Mosheh and Chaim Yitzchak David Jeruchem, who inherited the Sefer Torah.

The hachnosas Sefer Torah took place on the first day of Shavuos after Shacharis. The Sefer Torah was used for Krias HaTorah and Rav Zalman Leib Teitelbaum received an aliyah in the special Sefer Torah.

Many of today’s chassidishe rabbinical families trace back to Rav Chaim Halberstam zt”l (1793-1876), revered Sanzer Rav and author of the Divrei Chaim.

The Divrei Chaim had fourteen children. The two youngest sons survived into their nineties and were murdered in the Holocaust. Miraculously, a few religious items that belonged to the Divrei Chaim survived the Holocaust and are priceless. They include a Sefer Torah, a Sefer Torah crown, a kiddush cup, and some other singular items.

The Jeruchem brothers who were in possession of the Sefer Torah sold it to Rav Zalman Leib Teitelbaum several weeks ago.

See below for photos taken on Shavuos, at the hachnosas Sefer Torah, by a non-Jew, Stefano Giavonnini:

  1. Wow, I’m going to start a whole new industry shabbos bar mitzvah pictures taken by a non-Jew, e.g., Stefano Giavonnini, of course:– or do we have that already?
Also, I’m going to get recordings of chazzanus on Yomim Noraim – no more of that lousy piano musical accompaniment- by a non-Jew, e.g., Stefano Giavonnini, of course.

  3. The Shinover Rav was not the oldest son of the Divrei Chaim. I believe he was the 3rd or 4th, but said to be the greatest.

  4. I am not sure why such pictures (if taken with the intention of distributing them to jews) are permitted to be viewed.
The halacha is, that prohibited work done by a non jew for the purpose of benefitting jews is prohibited even after Shabbos or Yom Tov for the length of time it takes to do such work after Shabbos or Yom Tov ends(see shulchan aruch oc 325,6).The purpose of this waiting period is so that the jew does not benefit from what was done on Shabbos or Yom Tov.
Since these pictures cannot possibly be made after Shabbos or Yom Tov, it would seem that there is no time they can be permitted(since these pictures can never be taken afterwards.)
If these pictures were made by a non jewish reporter for a secular paper, it would seem that then these pictures may be permitted, since in that case the intention of the photgrapher was for the mostly non jewish readership of the paper.

  5. shiniva WAS oldest son for your info. Also two youngest sons R’Shalom Lazer & R’Shayale hy’d
were only 82 & 79 respectively when they were
    murdered!

  6. Who can explain to me… why? There are so many Almonos and Yesomim, Aniyim Vevyonim, at Risk, almost at risk kids and parents, Chassanim and Kalohs, teachers without salaries. Schools with no payroll…. and the list goes on and on.

  7. to #7 you see now you-& anyone else that thinks like this- are corrupting themselves & CAUSING THEMSELVES DESTRUCTION C”V.

hiring someone to do all these melachos on yom tov or shabbos-that can’t be done by a yid-lightens the holiness of the day & brings the person to not take it serious. Which then causes him to go down in yiddishkeit R”L

example: today R”L alot of people have a cleaning lady come work for them ON SHABBOS (clean dishes, wash floor etc…) any melacha that a yid can’t do or is NOT NEEDED for shabbos anymore (washing dishes after lunch C”V) is not allowed to be done by a cleaning lady either EVEN IF THERES NO AMIRA L’AKUM INVOLVED.

bottom line: this is the MAIN reason why shabbos & yom tov is made to NOTHING R”L. with my cleaning lady in my home ALL melachos can be done by her… & the kedusha has left most of klal yisroel already
