yom-haatzmaut-ponovezh[Photos below.] An Israeli flag was hoisted upon the roof of Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak as it is every year on Yom Ha’atzmaut, but a group of troubled youth confronted the talmidim of the yeshiva and created a tumult.

It was not clear what all the troublemakers desired in their protest, but some of them then proceeded to bother pedestrians and others on the busy Rechov Chazon Ish, blocking the street and harassing passersby.

See below for photos of some of the activity today:

  1. with this the case theres no way Mashiach is coming to bring us the 3rd bais Hamikdosh we await for.

Remove Sinas Chinam from your life & help return the bais Hamikdosh much faster

  2. Why is everyone so quick to condemn them – HaRav Shach zt’l used to praise Satmar’s anti-recognition position even though it was the opposite to what he ruled, if I am not mistaken

  3. THE YESHIVA WAS FOUNDED BY THE PONIVITCHER ROV ZTL
    HE FLEW THE FLAG

WHEN ONE OF THESE PROTESTERS (WHO ARE USUALLY UNEMPLOYED BORED PEPOLE) CAN PROVE THAT HE IS EQUAL TO THE RAV ZTL THEN WE CAN TALK

  4. In Ponivezh Yeshiva they don’t say Tachnun on Yom Ha’atzmaut. The Poniveshe Rov Z”L was asked: if you don’t say Tachnun, then say Hallel? He answered the he follows the Minhag of Ben Gurion. Ben Gurion didn’t say Tachnun but also didn’t say Hallel!!!

  5. ‘One talmid, Avi, quoted by Kikar Shabbos stated that “we aren’t Zionists but we remain committed to continue the minhag that was started by the founder of the yeshiva, HaGaon HaRav Kahanaman ZT”L.” ‘

    despite themselves
    (and you)

  6. On one particular occasion, when NK was protesting at Ponevezh , R’ Kahaneman was asked “why don’t you do something about this?
Why don’t you make sure they didn’t come?”

He responded “If they wouldn’t come on their own, I would pay them to come!
I want all to know that what I’m doing is only an unfortunate be’dieved – not the right way to do things, but necessary perhaps because of the difficulty of the times.”

    THAT was his minhag
