beit-shemeshThe District Planning and Construction Committee for Yerushalayim approved on Tuesday the construction plan for the Gimmel-2 and Mem-3 neighborhoods in Beit Shemesh, which will contain 2,100 new residential units. The project consists of 1,800 units in Ramat Beit Shemesh Gimmel and 300 in the Mem-3 neighborhood. Along with the 2,200 slated for construction in Ramat Beit Shemesh Gimmel-1, currently in advanced phases of development, a total of 4,000 units will be built for the chareidi community in the Ramat Beit Shemesh Gimmel neighborhood.

Prior to Tuesday’s meeting of the Planning and Construction Committee, Rabbi Moshe Montag, the chairman of the Planning and Construction Committee at the Beit Shemesh Municipality and a member of the District Planning and Construction Committee, joined by his assistant Rabbi Ben-Tzion Rakov, paid a visit to the home of HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliashiv shlita to ask for his blessings for the plan’s success and approval.

The approval in the District Committee is a significant milestone for chareidi construction in Beit Shemesh after an entire team from the Engineering Department, headed by Rabbi Montag and backed by Mayor Rabbi Moshe Abutbol, spent two years working on the plans to ensure the thousands of apartment units are designed in advance – not after the fact – to meet the needs of the chareidi public.
