Poll: Bill Clinton is Most Popular Politician in America

clinton2Nearly 12 years after he was impeached, former President Bill Clinton is now the most popular politician in America, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll. Fifty-five percent of those polled hold a positive view of Clinton, while only 23 percent have a negative view, the best ratio of any of the politicians or political parties polled.

Only two other political figures, President Barack Obama and former Arkansas GOP Gov. Mike Huckabee, have a net positive rating.

Obama has a 47 percent positive rating and a 41 percent negative rating; Huckabee scored at 26 percent positive and 25 percent negative.

Among the potential Republican challengers in 2012, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has the highest positive rating at 30 percent. Palin also has the highest negative rating, 48 percent.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is rated positively by 21 percent and negatively by 30 percent. For former House Speaker Next Gingrich, 24 percent have a positive view and 35 percent a negative one.

The survey of 1,000 adults was conducted Sept. 22-26 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
