kellyDo New Yorkers approve of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly? According to a new poll, the answer is a resounding “yes.”

The new Quinnipiac University poll found that Kelly’s approval rating is at a staggering 75 percent – the highest ever.

Quinnipiac’s Maurice Carroll told WCBS 880 reporter Rich Lamb it was thumbs up across the board.

“The white community likes him, 81 to 14. The black community, despite the outcry that you hear every now and then over stop-and-frisk, the black community still approves Kelly’s job performance 63 to 27,” Carroll said.

The Hispanic community approves of him, 76 to 18.

63 percent of New York’s voters said it would positively effect their decision to vote for a candidate for mayor if that person promises to ask Kelly to stay on as top cop. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has already done just that.
