bloomberg-thompson-debateAnother poll shows New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is stomping his Democratic opponent, with eight days to go until the election.

The Quinnipiac University survey has the incumbent billionaire 18 points ahead of City Comptroller William Thompson Jr.

Bloomberg leads Thompson 53 to 35 percent, with 10 percent undecided, among likely voters.

Quinnipiac surveyed 1,088 likely voters from Friday to Sunday. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

A poll by Marist College last week had a similar margin, Bloomberg led Thompson by 16 points.

Bloomberg last week broke his own spending record from 2005. He has blown through more than $85 million of his own money. Thompson raises money and has spent about $6 million.
