Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is saying the United States is ready for the historic summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“We’re ready for today,” Pompeo said in a tweet sent out Monday evening Eastern time with a photo of him leaving the Singapore hotel where the U.S. delegation is staying.

Pompeo has taken the lead on pre-summit negotiations, traveling to North Korea twice to meet with Kim.
“I’m very optimistic that we will have a successful outcome from tomorrow’s meeting between these two leaders.”
