NYU statistics professor Aaron Tenenbein did the math and found there’s only a 1 in 300-million chance of winning it all.
“If you’re an average golfer, you have a better chance of getting two successive holes in one,” he told CBS2’s Hazel Sanchez.
He said the only guarantee is buying every single number combination.
“Can you imagine somebody just physically going and buying $292-million tickets? They’d have to spend $5.8-million,” he said.

They’d have to spend $5.8-million” they could directly order it from powerball, and even if they had to split the pot 10 ways, they would still make a ton of profit. the thing is, the only people who can afford laying out $5.8 million for a lottery dont need the winnings.
$292 million tickets at $2 per ticket is about $600 million not $5.8 million…..one could still be profitable though!
