Roughly 350 miles south of the prison they escaped from, convicts David Sweat, 34, and Richard Matt, 48, were possibly spotted.
A witness in the town of Friendship, New York saw two men who matched their descriptions along a railroad in the New York-Pennsylvania border.
Police, U.S. Marshals, and multiple other law enforcement agencies are now searching the area. The town has been closed while police search, and vehicles are being stopped along the highway.
