According to a new Israeli bill, prisoner swaps will now involve a one-to-one equation, with no more than a single terrorist released in exchange for an abducted, missing or dead IDF soldier, Israel Radio reported on Sunday.
The proposed bill also states that no live terrorists will be exchanged for dead Israelis. In addition, it says, in the event of a kidnapping of an Israeli, the conditions of prisoners in Israeli jails who belong to the terrorist organization that committed the abduction will be made harsher.
In the explanatory section of the bill – initiated by MK Elazar Stern of the centrist Yesh Atid party – a reference is made to the fact that in all the prisoner exchanges thus far, a total of some 7,500 terrorists have been released in exchange for 14 live Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, and for the bodies of six soldiers.
According to Israel Radio, the new bill was on the agenda of Sunday’s meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Legislation.

1) No live terrorists will be exchanged for dead Israelis. Agreed, 100%. A living terrorist is always a risk of committing additional terrorist acts if released and as important as kavod hameis and the feelings of the niftar’s family are, this is a risk that shouldn’t be taken.
2) Prisoner swaps will now involve a one-to-one equation, with no more than a single terrorist released in exchange for an abducted, missing or dead IDF soldier. Disagree. While no terrorist should ever be released for no-longer-living soldiers, it may be worthwhile to have a swap that isn’t one-for-one. Obviously, the ratio can’t be out-of-hand and the terrorist(s) being released must be evaluated for future danger.
3) In the event of a kidnapping of an Israeli, the conditions of prisoners in Israeli jails who belong to the terrorist organization that committed the abduction will be made harsher. Disagree. AFAIK there is no such policy in place by any civilized country in the world. Furthermore, this will bring worldwide condemnation and pressure, even from Israel’s allies.
You obviously don’t know what kind of conditions they live under. They get more food than in Israeli prisons, according to their taste, they have more sports and access to fitness equipment, and they get to upgrade their education with UNIVERSITY DEGREES. They can earn anything from high school diplomas to Masters degrees, something which many (if not most) taxpayers, who pay for their stays there, can’t afford to do. I have no problem with teaching them basic literacy and some sort of job training so that they can earn a decent living IF they are supposed to leave prison, but you don’t need a Masters in engineering (their favorite) to do plumbing or fix cars.

One benefit of 14 Israelis being traded for 7500 terrorists, which the terrorists have failed to realize, is that 1 Jew is worth over 535 terrorists. Or to put it more starkly, 1 Muslim terrorist is so worthless even in their own eyes. The terrorist is worth less than 1/535 of a Jew.
