Protesters angry about the grand jury decision in Ferguson, Missouri engaged in a standoff with police this evening, shutting down an entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel as they attempted to march through.
The protesters marched to the Lincoln Tunnel and attempted to walk through, CBS2 reported. Police blocked the protesters at 41st Street and Eleventh Avenue, and traffic was left at a standstill.

CBS2’s Tony Aiello reported the standoff eventually came to an end and the protesters decided to march north on Eleventh Avenue, and later returned to Duffy Square. But a driver reported being stuck for half an hour.

Aiello reported on Twitter that protesters were warned three times to get out of the street, and arrests began when some protester did not. At least five had been arrested as of 7:45 p.m.

One man was seen scuffling with police as they tried to take him into custody.

A second group of protesters was first seen marching through the East Village, heading east on St. Mark’s Place toward Second Avenue. Protesters later walked onto and shut down the Franklin D. Roosevelt East River Drive, and attempted to cross the bridges into Brooklyn.
Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said earlier that he thought the protests were going well. He said the NYPD was giving protesters “breathing room” to express outrage over the decision by a grand jury not to indict a white police officer in the shooting death of an unarmed black teen.
He said as long as protesters remain nonviolent and don’t cause vandalism, they can demonstrate.

Earlier Tuesday, a small group of protesters also gathered outside federal court in Brooklyn, one of several demonstrations organized by the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network.
The afternoon protest was one of 28 rallies set to take place simultaneously across the nation, including in Newark, Atlantic City, Paterson and Camden in New Jersey.

And on Monday night, thousands of people flooded New York City streets, marching from Union Square to Times Square after it was announced that Officer Darren Wilson would not be charged in the death of Michael Brown.

They chanted “hands up, don’t shoot” while holding up signs saying “Black lives matter” and “jail killer cops.”

“The demonstrations last night, I thought we dealt with very professionally,” Bratton said Tuesday.

  1. These “protests” involve violence and even some murder I believe. The wild humans are destroying property of and hurting people who have nothing to do with this process. The grand jury is the only one responsible for this decision. NO ONE ELSE. These wild humans show how stupid, at best, they are and unknowledgeable of how society must work. Even if the grand jury did make a mistake, all of the direct and indirect victims of these wild ones are completely innocent of anything whatsoever. I believe that even if many of them are simply stupid and don’t know enough to live like civilized people, many, if not almost all of them, very well do know better and are outright evil. Evil idiots.

  2. Furthermore, in this and any other civilized country, guilt, especially murder, has to be proven beyond reasonable doubt. These wild protestors do not have the knowledge required to make a determination of guilt or innocence.

They do not care. They want to be treated much more than fairly, but with favoritism. Anyone that harms them even unavoidably in self defense, should be shot. Otherwise, they do not mind causing all kinds of harm and damage, including unintentional or perhaps even intentional, murder to the rest of the people of the country who had nothing to do with this decision.

If they do not understand this, even if they have a legitimate cause, I think they should be even more severely treated and punished. No “make nice” to them. They are BAD people doing BAD things. That’s it.

  3. This also happened in Los Angeles in the Rodney King era when they almost burnt down the town and were working to destroy the San Fernando Valley, people in the valley sat on their roofs with rifles just in case they started burning down homes there. Here also was a drugged out alcoholic resisting arrest because he was driving his car dangerously and almost killed a few people. Here also was riots and burnings of anything they can get their hands on.
