P’sak for Pesach: Taste Your Deodorant

Tuesday April 7, 2009 3:50 PM - 14 Comments

arridRafi G. of the Life in Israel blog shares that a pamphlet distributed to the bochurim in the Elon Moreh Yeshiva in Eretz Yisroel states that the talmidim should spray some deodorant on their hands before Pesach and taste it. If the taste is putrid, then the deodorant can be used on Pesach.  The pamphlet can be seen below, with the deodorant segment highlighted:

Knock yourself out guys. I already have a psak on deodorant from my Rov, and it doesn’t involve tasting it.

That pesak sounds like it came from someone who downed a couple cans before speaking. Although he would of only tasted it after paskening that so I’m not sure what happened to him.

why are israeli Rabbis even giving a NEW Psak and not relying on what the american Rabbis have said years ago (and who would be more in the know about this)
