abe-schwartzman-1It is with great sadness that we report the passing last night of R’ Avrohom Schwartzman z”l at the age of 63.

R’ Avrohom was a longtime resident of Flatbush, Brooklyn, where he was one of the notable members of the Mirrer Yeshiva minyan, forming a close relationship with the yeshiva and its roshei yeshiva, particularly Rav Shmuel Berenbaum zt”l, with whom he learned bechavrusah.

R’ Avrohom later moved to Lakewood, where he lived near his children. During the last years, he battled illness and faced challenging medical nisyonos, yet he rose above it all with amazing grace and bitachon. He inspired so many people with his sterling conduct and the manner in which he accepted the decisions of Hakadosh Boruch Hu.

R’ Avrohom demonstrated great chashivus haTorah all his life and was an outstanding baal chessed who helped so many people in quiet ways. Much of activity to assist individuals was done behind the scenes, but always with his characteristic smile and good cheer. R’ Avrohom’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him.

R’ Avrohom is survived by his devoted wife and their wonderful family of children and ainiklach, all following in his ways.

The levaya will take place today at 2 p.m. at Mirrer Yeshiva, located at 1791 Ocean Parkway, at the corner of Avenue R, in Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. “Abe” was a beautiful role model to us Talmidim in the Yeshiva, of how integral Limud Hatorah is in our lives. Seeing a Ba’al Habus who comes daily second seder with a Kvi’us as if he was still a Bachur in the Yeshiva, made a big impression on us.

  2. Among so many others, R’ Schwartzman touched me personally: when he came to visit his children here in Rochester, NY, he spoke to the whole yeshiva and told us what he was going through, and that he had taken on to further reinforce his emunah peshutah-and to recite and focus on the ani maamims constantly. This emuna peshuta-along with his sincere kindness-shone from him so brightly. I will never forget this tzaddik. Yehi zichro baruch.
