It is with great sadness that we report the passing of R’ Norbert May z”l of Monsey, NY. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ilse May; and his children, Rav Asher Dovid May, Mrs. Yehudis Levy, Mrs. Debra Slomovits (wife of Rav Mendel Slomovitz), and Mrs. Miriam Steinberg (wife of Rav Yisroel Steinberg).
The levaya was held yesterday at Khal Bais Tefilo of Monsey.

Rav Asher Dovid May shlit”a, the niftar’s son, is one of the gedolei hador. His brothers in law, Rabbi Slomowitz, Rabbi Meir Levi and Rabbi Steinberg are choshuva and outstanding talmidei chachomim.
Mr. May z”l was an unusual baal habayis who was a main supporter of Rabbi Yehuda Breslauer and his congregation in Washington Heights.
One of the many things that were mentioned at the levaya was that he had a non Jewish gardener that did not seem to bill him. After a while, he asked a neighbor if the gardener billed him and the neighbor said yes. When he approached the gardener to pay him he asked him why he didn’t bill him. The gardener answered that he was afraid that if he got paid Mr. May might say he was done and he was so impressed by the beautiful harmony and deeds that he saw in the house that he didn’t want to leave.

He was the most beautiful man I have ever met and his wife was truly devoted to him. I wish for all marriages to be as wonderful as that of Norbert and Ilse
