It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Yaakov Galinsky zt”l, one of the senior maggidim of our time. He had been hospitalized at Mayanei Hayeshuah Hospital in Bnei Brak and passed away today.
Rav Galinsky was 93.
Rav Galinsky was renowned for his wit and unique ability to impart inspiring words of hisorerus. He was a talmid of the Novardok Yeshiva in Bialistock, where he learned during the 1930s under Rav Avrohom Yaafen, son-in-law of the Alter of Novardok. In 1941, he was exiled to Siberia with a group of hundreds of yeshiva bochurim. Post-World War II, he married his rebbetzin, spent a period of time in the DP camps in Germany, and in 1949 immigrated to Eretz Yisroel and settled in Bnei Brak.
Rav Galinsky was extremely close to the Chazon Ish and the Steipler Gaon. In the 1950s, he became rosh yeshiva in Rosh Haayim and expended great efforts to impact the youth of the Yemenite community. In the 1960s, he led the Novardok Yeshiva in Chadeirah along with Rav Elchanan Perlmutter, also a Novardok talmid.
For years, Rav Galinsky visited immigrant communities throughout Eretz Yisroel to be mechazeik and uplift the residents there. His drashos, based on the Novardok school of thought and hashkafah, inspired thousands across the globe.
The levaya will taek place at 7:30 p.m. at Rav Galinsky’s home of Rechov Chiddushei Harim in Bnei Brak. It will pass the Lederman Shul on Rechov Rashbam and then proceed to the Ponovezher cemetery, where kevurah will take place.
Yehi zichro boruch.

Yechial Menachem: How do you know we aren’t teshuva ? When were you appointed the Mashgiach of World Jewry. We are all suffering enough, you dont need to point fingers.
What a terribe loss! May his zchus protect us till mashiach comes
The yesod to remember is his famous drasha; The way the stipler said “Shinina Chatof vechol chatoif ushesa Chatif chatif chatif chatif.”
Mehu I agree with you. I get a distinctly uncomfortable feeling when I read these Teshuva calls which sound almost like rants. The teshuva call needs to be internal to oneself. We should leave public teshuva calls to the Roshei Yeshiva to their own Talimidim, Admorim to their own chasidim and Rabonim to their own Mispalelim.
Boruch Dayan hoemes. That’s all what a erliche yid suppose to say Not more!!!!!!
yechiel Menachem, instead of being the towns crier, why don’t you start with yourself first and get off the internet

how sad. another talmid of novardok gone. soon there will be none left to be a living testimony to a remarkable link in the masora of european torah that so uniquely set the table for the torah in this generation.
without the few novardoker that were left a treasure box of that particular brand of bitachon and milchemes hayeitzer will be sealed and gone.
Reb Yakov Galinsky was not just a maggid , he was a the last representative of r’ yoizel, r’ avrohom yoffen, r’ ben tzion bruk, r’ hilel vitkind,r’ chaim zeitchik,r’ gershon liebman,
etc.
there is no one left to convey the glory of that particular brand of mesar.
