Visitors to FI Asia-China were offered a unique opportunity to hear an in depth talk about the benefits of Kosher and the Kosher market. FI Asia-China is a health ingredient show held annually in Shanghai with an attendance of over 2,500 exhibitors and 35,000 visitors, and is the meeting place for food ingredient manufacturers who gather to seek local and international market opportunities.
The presentation by Rabbi Akiva Osher Padwa – Director of Certification at the KLBD, entitled “Unlock the Hidden Potential in Import and Export”, focused both on the benefits of importing high quality ingredients from the US, and on how Chinese manufacturers can utilise the mighty buying power of the Kosher market to boost their export opportunities. The seminar, the first of its kind ever held in China, was organised by Kosherregister.com.
Rabbi Padwa explained why Kosher has such a universal appeal and how Kosher certification can be used as a marketing tool and give a business a significant advantage over non-certified competitors. He stressed however that Kosher certification is a double edged sword; it is a privilege yet also a commitment. Use it wisely and correctly and it will promote your business significantly. Abuse it and it will be detrimental as the bad publicity associated with having a certificate revoked can prove extremely damaging.
Other speakers at this seminar include Mr Ari Lauber (CEO of Kosherregister.com), Dr Avrom Pollak (President of Star-K Kosher) and Mr Alan Hallman (Deputy Director of the US Department of Agriculture).
Rabbi Padwa commented that the seminar was a great success and a big eye opener for Chinese manufacturers.
