  1. A very special and kind person. He was especially nice to all Talmidim of Mirrer Yeshiva who used to come and daven in the Young Israel

  2. Rabbi Bomzer zt”l was a truly great Rav. In addition to his superlative service as a Rav in Flatbush, he was a rosh yeshiva in YU and the leading expert on conversions. He wrote a manual that is literally the textbook for geirus. Modestly and quietly, he was a true giant. The Lubavitcher Rebbe told a ger (convert) of Rabbi Bomzer that he was just as Jewish as the ger. No greater testimony is possible. Boruch Dayan Ha’emes – he will be mist.

  3. I knew Rabbi Bomzer, as a neighbor on the same st as myself and family resided , a fine human being , never to busy to say a few kind words , his friendly smile and intelligent comments always left you in a good frame of mine , the world has lost a good soul , kind and gentile ill miss him .

  4. He was my Rebbe in YUHS-Bklyn(BTA), senior yr. He taught us Makos and we made a siyum on it. In the beginning of the yr, he asked each of us to give a dollar and with the money he bought a Me’eri on Makos and an Acharon (think it was Pnei Yehoshua). He would read from these seforim as he taught. At the end of the yr we had a raffle and I won the Me’eri. I stll cherish it. I became more intersted in learning Gemorah because of him (and because of winning the raffle). Whenever we would listen to his explanations and not take notes, he would warn us – “Don’t rely on your phenominal memory!” (i.e. write it down!) He always “lifted us up”, never talked down to us. Met him many times during the yrs. He walked with a stature. Spoke with dignity. Class A mentch!
To Rabbi Moshe – thank you so much for bringing me over to see him at the recent chasunah. And of course for hosting me when work brought me to Albany. HaMakom Yenachem Eschem…
Tears are shed when Tzdikim leave this world.

  5. Rabbi Herbie will be missed by all who knew him. An amazing scholar and very kind and thoughtful man. He spoke from the heart.I feel very honored to say that I was related to him. May he rest in peace.

  6. Rabbi Bomzer was not only the Hebrew principal during my years at BTA, but he was my Rabbi and a friend. He always had a kind word to say to his students, and you sometimes found him on the court shooting a few baskets. He will be missed by all. Z”L.
