It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing over Shabbos of Rabbi Eliyahu Tabak z”l of Monsey, NY. He was 81 years old.

A close talmid and chossid of the Ribnitzer Rebbe, Reb Eliyahu was a dedicated oveid Hashem with sterling middos and a kind demeanor, endearing him to all who knew him. His unique nature resulted in special relationships that he maintained with many gedolei Yisroel, including the Satmar Rov zt”l, Rav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz zt”l, ybl”c Rav Berel Povarsky, and others.

Reb Eliyahu initially operated a bakery in Monsey and then ran an electrician business, but his primary focus was always on limud haTorah and avodas Hashem, whether at his shul, Tiferes Gedalyahu, or elsewhere.

Reb Eliyahu was an outstanding talmid chochom and baal chessed who lived his life loyal to Torah and mesorah. Everything else he did was secondary to his Torah learning and tzedakah endeavors.

Reb Eliyahu was zocheh, together with his wonderful wife, Rebbetzin Chana, to raise a family of noted bnei Torah, marbitzei Torah and machzikei Torah, including their children, Rav Aharon Tabak, Reb Yossel Tabak, Reb Elimelech Tabak, Reb Moshe Tabak, Reb Kalman Tabak, Reb Shlome Tabak, Reb Velvel Tabak, Mrs. Hindy Housman, Mrs. Henny Polansky, Mrs. Gitty Levy, Mrs. Miriam Klein, Mrs. Rochel Kalmen, Mrs. Batsheva Halpern, Mrs. Tziporah Grossman and Mrs. Leeby Weinberg, and grandchildren who are following in his ways.

The levaya will be held on Sunday morning, at 10:30 a.m., at Khal Tiferes Gedalyahu, located at 9 Saddle River Road in Monsey, followed by kevurah.

The family will be sitting shivah at 11 Saddle River Road in Monsey, NY.

Yehi zichro boruch.
