It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Shmuel Michoel Sanders z”l today.
R’ Shmuel Michoel ben R’ Nochum Tzvi was a talmid vosik of Yeshivas Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin and maintained a lifelong relationship with his rebbi muvhak, Rav Shlomo Freifeld zt”l, who he met as a young talmid of the yeshiva.
Rabbi Sanders devoted his life to chinuch and to tzorchei haklal, serving in Milwaukee, Omaha, and Allentown, and then serving as a senior mashgiach for the Orthodox Union both in the United States and abroad.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Evelyn Sanders, and his children, Rabbi Binyamin Sanders, Mrs. Sarah Zimmerman, Rabbi Yosef Sanders, Rabbi Nochum Dovid Sanders, and Rabbi Yakov Meir Sanders, all of whom are involved in chinuch and limud haTorah, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The levayah will be held on Monsey at Yeshivas Ohr Somayach, located at 244 NY-306 in Monsey, NY, at noon, followed by kevurah at the East 7th Street cemetery located adjacent to the Congregation Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel in Lakewood, NJ, at 3:30 p.m.
