  1. I remember davening in his Shul years ago (20-25 years ago) in the old low rise building, when the entrance was quite set back from the street.

I remember a few years ago when he organized a fine large event marking ten years since the passing of Rav Avigdor Miller z”l in a Sephardic Shul on Ocean Parkway.

I remember him speaking a few years after that at a gathering related to Maimonides hospital in a hall in Borough Park, where he credited them for saving his life.

    Yehi zichro boruch.

  2. This comment page has been opened on my phone for the past 45 minutes because I came across it trying to find a phone number to get in touch with Nuta. I am shocked and saddened by the news of his petira. He and I were not best friends but we would cross paths many times through the years as I tried to be part of the Jewish music and entertainment industry with different projects and he would be one of my go-to guys, not in his office but always on the street, in a restaurant, just passing by, he was just always there. There were times during one period of my graphic design life when I would do graphic design for some of his projects like his circus for example and he would explain to me the difference between a circus for frum families and everyone else. He was very insistent that there were key words to use when speaking about Jewish events to keep them in the correct context of our holidays and the Jewish way of families having fun together.
In 1983 I first met Nuta. I was putting together a band that was a Jewish parody on the Beatles. We invited all the orchestra’s and people who made concerts to come to a showcase. Nuta was the only one who showed up. He didn’t know me but he treated me with great respect and said I should come to his office to discuss what I had put together. I never realized that that is probably the reason why he always called me Ringo. When I would see him I would say in an English accent “hello Paul”. He would say “Ringo we’ve got to get the band together.”
I know people would probably rather tap into his rabbinical achievements, but for me the great care that he took to put together the correct entertainment for families in the Jewish Market is a great accomplishment. There are so many directions where people can be lead off the derech without even realizing it. To take on projects and become a famous person in the Jewish world. To be known by everyone and to know that people are speaking your name at the holiday table and to know that they are looking forward to what you have spent months putting together. But Nuta was filled with humility and brought klal yisroel together knowing that “bsimcha” is a state of being appropriate and knowing it is all for Hakadosh Baruch Hu. Something that we all have to weigh constantly. And Nuta did. Thank you Nuta from Reuven, the Torah Tots, The Yeadles and Im sure many other creative incarnations of the entire Jewish entertainment family.
