sender-kleinbardIt is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rabbi Sender Kleinbard zt”l of Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Reb Sender was a son of Reb Boruch Kleinbard z”l, the well-known osek betzorchei tzibbur in Monsey, NY.

Reb Sender was rosh v’rishon lechol dovor shebekedushah. For almost two decades, Reb Sender was a Daf Yomi maggid shiur at Knesses Bais Avigdor, Rav Aharon Kahn’s shul in Flatbush. Reb Sender would often laud the mesirus nefesh of the baalei batim who spared no effort to attend his daily shiur, and he remarked on the ruach Torani that fills the shul from morning until late at night, which Reb Sender said had a profound influence on him, inspiring him in his own shiur preparation and limud haTorah. Indeed, his shiur was a priority for him, reflecting his deeply-felt love of Torah, which is seen in his son, Reb Shimon, a respected talmid chochom.

In addition to being a yirei Shomayim and humble oveid Hashem, Reb Sender was beloved by all and respected for his sterling middos and anavah.

Reb Sender was a son-in-law of Rav Simcha Sheps zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Vodaas. Reb Sender’s wife was Mrs. Shulamith Kleinbard a”h, a devoted friend to so many mosdos of Torah chesed. Together, the Kleinbards were a team of Torah and chesed, sharing the beauty of Yiddishkeit with others and serving as role models to all who knew them. Their legacy is carried on by their wonderful son and family.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  4. BDE. How sad. What a loss. I knew R’ Sender for practically my whole life, as we lived very close to the Kleinbard’s . He always would greet everyone, children included, bsever ponim yofos, with a shake of his head and a nice, warm Good Morning or hello. It was always noticeable on him the sense of a responsibility that he had as a true Ben Torah and Talmid Chochom. Dressed properly and bakovodik, he had a serious but very friendly appearance. It was always a pleasure to see him and to speak to him, in learning or anything else. He was a calm clearheaded person. He constantly made a Kiddush Ha-hem. We will always remember him. We will miss him, as will anyone who ever knew him. Yehi Zichro Baruch.
