candle-small6It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rabbi Yehoshua (Samuel) Fink z”l, who served for five decades in rabbinic positions, including at the Young Israel of Bedford Bay-Madison on Brown Street in Brooklyn, where he served as rov. Rabbi Fink served as a rebbi at Yeshiva University and was member of the Vaad Harabbonim of Flatbush, in addition to leading his kehillah and being involved in various tzorchei tzibbur, including the local chevrah kadisha.

In recent years, following his retirement, Rabbi Fink served as rabbi emeritus at Young Israel of Bedford Bay-Madison, which is led now by Rabbi Tzvi Fried.

A levaya was held yesterday afternoon at the shul, and a second levaya will take place today in Yerushalayim. Kevurah will be in Beit Shemesh.

R’ Dov, R’ Reuven, and R’ Zev Fink will be sitting shivah at 1465 East 13th Street in Brooklyn from tomorrow morning until Sunday morning. The phone number is 718-375-4716.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. Boruch dayan Ho’emes.

I believe the niftar was a talmid of Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yisroel Meir haKohein (aka Chofetz Chaim) many years ago.

  2. I just learned today Shabbat of R’ Fink’s passing.

May Hashem comfort my old friend Rabbis Reuven, R. Dovid, and R. Zev FInk.

May Hashem comfort you amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

  3. Rabbi Fink Z’l taught me at BTA in 1977-78. He knew how to talk to the guys. I always disliked my Hebrew middle name until Rabbi Fink began calling me by that name. We knew that his tough style was truly his soft heart and loving soul.
Even as kids, we knew he was special and loved him. There is always a place in my heart for Rabbi Fink. May his Neshama have an aliya.
