rand-paulDick Cheney may be taking potshots at Senator Rand Paul for his “isolationism” but it turns out Paul may have drew first blood. Mother Jones revealed today that in 2009, Paul suggested the former VP got the U.S. involved in Iraq to profit his former firm, Halliburton.

After pointing out Cheney’s previous opposition to invading Iraq under the first Bush, Paul declares, “Dick Cheney then goes to work for Halliburton. Makes hundreds of millions of dollars, their CEO. Next thing you know, he’s back in government and it’s a good idea to go into Iraq.”

Paul also claimed that “9/11 became an excuse for a war they already wanted in Iraq.” Read more at Mother Jones.

  1. Invading Iraq was the biggest American foreign policy error since prior to World War II, but the idea that the invasion was about profiting a single private sector company is the kind of nonsense conspiracy theory that is usually associated with the far, far left.

  2. Nothing wrong with invading Iraq. What was stupid was staying and rebuilding it. THESE ARE OUR ENEMIES. WHAT PART OF DEATH TO AMERICA ISN’T CLEAR?

  3. Mr. Paul is quick on his feet, but the reasons for all of the considered dead hands of fate are not always so complicit. I think that Iraq was not exactly the best way for the Future to begin in 2002, but ultimately, we had an issue and we had to seal the fate of some of the very confusing agendas of human suffering in the day. I think we have an obligation now to be more condign in our advantage in our setting and bring a more annealed future to the region. Lets make this future a way of breaking the bubble of the past and relying now upon higher logical assessment for better privilege. It is not a good complicated past to constantly run wild on a criticism when there is clearly a new order in the middle east and the complicated array of trust which was met and lost on the Iraq war is not exactly a trial of lost jeopardy. But overall, we are in need of more convalescent hopes and better fortunes. Mr. Paul is ready for his own road map of “supplied innocence”. But his world is not exactly trustworthy. I wont be considering him at all in 2016.
