The famously libertarian Kentucky senator said on Fox News Sunday that while he doesn’t “promote” marijuana, tough drug laws about it need to be lightened.

“Look, the last two presidents could have conceivably been put in jail for their drug use and I really think-look what would’ve happened, it would’ve ruined their lives,” Paul said. “They got lucky. But a lot of poor kids, particularly in the inner city, don’t get lucky and they don’t have good attorneys and they go to jail for some of these things and I think it’s a big mistake.” While Paul insisted he does not partake in marijuana and “it’s a bad thing to do,” he doesn’t want to “put people in jail who made a mistake.”

  1. look at prohibition. Laws must be made too protect ppl, for example, giving to minors, however, those who take always will, and those who dont won’t,like cigarettes. As long as they dont harm anyone let it be.
