Bais Medrash Govoah of Lakewood, NJ, has announced the appointment of Rav Abba Brudny to its hanhalah and its team of mashgichim.

Rav Abba is a son of Rav Shmuel Brudny zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Mirrer Yeshiva in Brooklyn. Three decades ago, Rav Abba succeeded his father as the rov of Agudas Yisroel of Flatbush South, which was later renamed in Rav Shmuel’s memory.

Rav Abba subsequently relocated to Edison, NJ, where he has been marbitz Torah for decades. Rav Abba served for some 25 years as the menahel and a maggid shiur at Yeshiva Rabbeinu Yaakov Yosef of Edison and then became rosh kollel of the Edison Community Kollel.

Rav Abba’s wife, Rebbetzin Cyrel, is a daughter of Rav Nochum Zeldes zt”l, a talmid of Rav Aharon Kotler zt”l in Kletzk who was one of the pillars of Bais Medrash Govoah and served as president of Bais Medrash Govoah, the yeshiva whose hanhalah his son-in-law will now be joining.

Rebbetzin Brudny has served as the principal of the Yeshiva Shaarei Tzion Girls School in Edison since it opened its doors in 1991. With unique devotion, Rebbetzin Brudny has dedicated herself to the success of each of her students, readying them for the next level of their academic careers while enriching them personally and spiritually.

Rav Abba is renowned for his wide-ranging yedios haTorah, his understanding of people, sagacious counsel, compassionate personality, scintillating shiurim and shmuessen, and ability to reach and inspire people from across the spectrum. His appointment at Bais Medrash Govoah will undoubtedly enrich the yeshiva and its talmidim, who will benefit from this outstanding talmid chochom and mashpiah.

  1. Kal hakavod.
One question though. Why is it necessary to enumerate all the maalos and yichus of the wife? Why is it nogia for this story? Is it even bigedrei tznius? Did the Rosh Yeshiva give rishus to publicize all this information about his wife? I remember my Rebbe as being a private person.

  2. Hey, go scratch your head, and get a life. Stop trying to out-frum yourself and everyone around you.

Is the Torah not tzniusdig for listing the maalos of our Imahos?

Get a life and maybe get a therapist too. Seriously!!

  3. Correction: Rav Shmuel Brudny Zatzal was never a Rosh Yeshiva in the Mir. He did give the oldest shiur though. Another common misconception is that some consider his son, Rav Elya Brudny Shlita to be one of the Roshei Yeshiva. Although he did take over his father’s shiur, he is not a Rosh Yeshiva in the Mir. Please have some oversight in the future.

  4. the first comment, [ about the receiving permission before publicizing…] has a good torah attitude about privacy, which unfortunately is not that common nowadays!

  5. “maybe get a therapist…”. or maybe you should learn chumash & inyanay tsniyut, & seek to understand yourself why
why you despise someone who May have an issue of “trying to….”

    • Or maybe if people need to seclude themselves. Do it themselves and not be a burden on others! If someone feels something isn’t tzniuous they have the option of not visiting the website. It’s not standard curricula or something!
