Rav Auerbach to Chacham Ovadiah: “I Am Davening for You Non-Stop”

shmuel-auerbach-19With the significant improvement in the condition of Chacham Chaim Ovadia Yosef ben Georgia, earlier this evening, Rav Shmuel Auerbach, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Maalos Hatorah, visited Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center.

Upon entering Chacham Ovadiah’s room, Rav Auerbach told the senior gaon and posek, “Klal Yisroel needs you at this difficult time. I am davening non-stop that you will [recover and] return to leading [Yidden].”

As we reported earlier, Dr. Dan Gilon, head of the team of doctors caring for Chacham Ovadiah, said that “the condition of the rav in general is still very serious, but, particularly compared to yesterday and previous days, we see improvement, the most striking of which is how he is gaining alertness and recognizing people.
“He has returned to full consciousness, which is definitely a significant improvement. He is still on a respirator, but requires less respiratory assistance.
“You have to keep in mind the background of the situation, the rav‘s age and illness history, which worries us, but it is always good to see and hear that things have improved.

“I think we can say that the degree of danger has decreased,” he added, “but there is a life-threatening nature to the situation here, though less extreme than we thought in the previous days.”

The tzibbur is asked to continue to pray for Hashem’s mercy in granting a complete refuah to Chacham Chaim Ovadia Yosef ben Georgia, besoch shear cholei Yisroel.

  1. Please omit the name “Yosef”; it is his last name and the name for Tehilim should be Chaim Ovadya ben Georgia. May Maran harav and all yidden merit gezunt!

  2. His name as Matzav writes it is correct. He took on the name Yosef as a last name, meaning his name was Rav Ovadia Yosef Yosef. Therefore we should continue davening for Chaim Ovadia Yosef ben Jorjea.

The people hear in Eretz Yisrael know this. When I was in USA, I did not know this.
