As Israel continues to be bombarded by rockets shot by blood-thirsty jihadist Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip, Rav Berel Povarsky, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Ponovezh in Bnei Brak and member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah, has called for an increase in limud and kavod haTorah.
“Chazal say that ‘Torah is ‘magna umatzla.’ Torah protects. So how do we explain why we are not being protected at this time?” asked Rav Povarsky. “The explanation is that on the posuk regarding Dovid Hamelech which states, ‘Vayechsuhu bibegodim velo yicham lo,” Rebbi Yossi ben Rebbi Chanina say that one who is mevazeh clothes cannot benefit from them, and the posuk says, “Vayokom Dovid veyichros es hame’il – Dovid arose and cut the coat.’ Therefore, it did not him warm him.”
Rav Povarsky continued: “You should know that this applies to all devorim shebekedushah. When a person is dismissive about something, the thing will not stand in his zechus. For example, a person who is nonchalant or disrespectful about tefillah should not be surprised if his tefillos do not help him in times of trouble.
“Recently,” said Rav Povarsky, “there has been a state of contempt for the honor of the Torah and its chachomim, and some have worked to battle the gedolei Yisroel, whether through action or speech, in ways that were unheard of before. It is therefore no wonder that because of the disregard for the respect the Torah, the ‘magna umatzla’ power has been weakened. We must work to strengthen ourselves in this regard and thus merit the complete protection of the Torah.”
Rav Povarsky added: “Likewise, it is a duty on all of us to be nosei b’ol with the hundreds of thousands of our brethren in the south who are experiencing pain and suffering, and everyone should thus strengthen themselves in limud haTorah and bein adam lachaveiro.”

he actually asked for an increase in kavod hatorah, limmud hatorah, nosei b’ol chaveiro in feeling the pain of our brethren, and bein odom lechaveiro in general.
why only mention kovod hatorah in the headline, and limmud hatorah and kovod hatorah in the first paragraph. You dont want somthing like bein adam lechaveiro to get lost in the kovod hatorah message, which it will.
