Rav Betzalel Busel has been appointed as rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Gedolah Torah Temimah of Brooklyn, NY. Rav Busel will replace Rav Shlomo Feivel Schustal as the maggid shiur of the highest shiur in the yeshiva this coming Elul.
The formal announcement was made to the yeshiva this afternoon by the rosh hayeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Temimah, Rav Lipa Margulies.
Rav Schustal, who had been a maggid shiur in Yeshiva of Staten Island before joining Torah Temimah over 30 years ago, will be opening his own yeshiva in Asbury Park, NJ, this coming Elul. Rav Schustal currently also serves as rov of Bais Medrash Avreichim of Flatbush.
The announced departure of Rav Schustal earlier this year left vacant the prestigious position of senior maggid shiur of one of North America’s largest and most respected yeshivos. After an intense search for a replacement, the hanhalah of Torah Temimah selected Rav Busel, who is well-respected as a talmid chochom, lamdan and boki, whose warm personality complements his stature in Torah.
Rav Betzalel, who currently serves as a rosh kollel in Riverdale, NY, is a son of Rav Yaakov Busel, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Rabbeinu Yaakov Yosef (RJJ) in Edison, NJ. Rav Betzalel is a son-in-law of Rav Avrohom Ausband, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva of Telshe Alumni of Riverdale.
Rav Betzalel hails from a family of renowned gedolei Torah and roshei yeshiva. His maternal grandfather was Rav Boruch Sorotzkin zt”l, rosh yeshiva in Telshe Yeshiva in Cleveland. His wife’s grandfathers were Rav Eizik Ausband zt”l, rosh yeshiva in Telshe Yeshiva in Cleveland, and Rav Binyomin Zeilberger zt”l, rosh yeshiva in Yeshiva Bais Hatalmud in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
The bochurim at Torah Temimah, after twelfth grade and first-year bais medrash, generally remain in the highest shiur for two years before heading to Eretz Yisroel to learn in yeshivos there.
The yeshiva gedola building is located at the corner of Ocean Parkway and Ditmas Avenue in the Kensington area of Brooklyn.

As one who is familiar with these talmidei chachomim, it should be noted that their middos tovos and refined personalities are as outstanding as their remarkable gadlus in Torah and avodah. Both Rav Schustal, shlit”a and Rav Busel zhlit”a, the new rosh yeshiva, are amazing role models for bochurim and for all of us in how to learn and how to act and how to be true ovdei hashem.

Rav Betzalel is not the oldest in his family. He was always considered brilliant. He also is very dedicated to learning with every fiber of his being and he is a very likable person. I hope he has much Hatzlacha.
Rav Zalman Busel is Rav Bezalels older brother. He is a chashuva Talmid Chochom & is a R’M’ in Yeshivas Rabeinu Yaakov Yosef in Edison.
