Rav Boruch Mordechai Ezrachi, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Ateres Yisroel of Yerushalayim, has been hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Yerushalayim after apparently suffering a slight stroke today.
Rav Ezrachi had not been feeling well previously. He is now under the close watch of physicians at Hadassah, who will decide on a course of treatment.
Born in Petach Tikva to R’ Yisroel and Hinda Ezrachi, the rosh yeshiva is 84 years old. As a bochur, he studied at Yeshivas Chevron and, at age 24, married his wife, Rebbetzin Shulamis, a daughter of Rav Meir Chodosh zt”l, mashgiach of Yeshivas Chevron.
Rav Ezrachi initially served as a maggid shiur at Yeshivas Chevron and then at Yeshivas Knesses Chizkiyahu in Kfar Chassidim before founding his own yeshiva in 1976. He called it Yeshivas Ateres Yisroel in memory of his father.
Rav Ezrachi has one son and four daughters, His brother, Rav Yitzchok, a son-in-law of Rav Chaim Shmulevitz zt”l, is a R”M at Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim.
Rav Ezrachi is a member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of of Degel HaTorah. He has authored seforim titled “Birkas Mordechai” on Shas, al haTorah, and on the moadim.
He recently returned from a whirlwind trip, together with Rav Dovid Cohen, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Chevron, and a delegation, to Lithuania, where he visited various historical locations and kevorim of gedolei Torah.
All are asked to daven for the refuah of Rav Boruch Mordechai ben Hinda Malkah.
