rav-chaim-breishIt is with great sadness that we report the tragic passing of Rav Chaim Breish zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Hamesivta in London, England. Rav Chaim passed away at the age of 65 after drowning in the sea, where he had visited for health-related reasons.

Having felt unwell in recent days, Rav Chaim went to the home of his brother-in-law, Reb Shmuel Berger in Ramsgate, in Southern England. He was accompanied by a talmid, Reb Yitzchok Biegel, when he entered the water of Louisa Bay in Broadstairs, where there are cliffs that descend steeply into the sea. Rav Chaim was reportedly swept away by powerful waves. His talmid tried to save him, but the two had to be taken to shore by onlookers.

Kent Police were called and a helicopter was dispatched to fly the rosh yeshiva to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate. Doctors tried to save his life but were unsuccessful.

The Stamford Hill community has been thrown into mourning over the tragedy and the loss of such a respected and beloved member of the community.

  1. what a tragedy

people are starting to die younger & younger cause 79 (Rebetzin kanievsky, Rabbi Tendler Zt”l & the spinka rebbe of yerushalyim ZT”L)
was not young enough to wake us up to start doing teshuva.
HOW YOUNG will it take for us to get the message from Hashem for everyone-myself included-to start doing teshuva & return to Hashem? Klal Yisroel already lost a big tzaddik a few weeks ago at the young age of 37 while he was learning over a sefer Rabbi akiva ehrenfeld ZT”L & son of mattesdorfer rav.

WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? HOW MUCH LONGER ARE WE GOING TO NEED TZAROS BEFORE WE RETURN TO HASHEM?

  2. Another sister is married to Rav Shimshon Weiss, a prominent marbitz Torah in Lakewood. Mrs. Weiss is the proprietor of Fashion Stop on Clifton Avenue.
