Rav Chaim Kanievsky and Rav Nissim Karelitz Condemn Violent Protests in RMS and Bizayon of Rav Shternbuch

rav-nissim-karelitz-rav-chaim-kanievskyFollowing continuous protests and unilateral action taken by individuals associated with the Asra Kadisha group over alleged desecration of kevorim in Ramat Bet Shemesh, gedolei hador have publically condemned these radical elements.

Maran Rav Chaim Kanievsky and Maran Rav Nissim Karelitz signed a public declaration released yesterday criticizing those radicals who have protested violently day after day at the Goloventzitz  construction site in Ramat Bet Shemesh, clashing with police officers.

These individuals have going so far as to defame gedolei Torah, such as Maran Rav Moshe Shternbuch, gaon av bais din of the Eidah Hachareidus, who has ruled that there is no halachic concern with building at that location.

“Worthless people have opened their mouths against one of the great Torah sages of our generation, Rav Moshe Shternbuch,” the letter states. “We hereby protest this for the honor of the Torah. May it be the Ribono Shel Olam‘s will that [these individuals] fully do teshuvah.”

Time will tell whether these people – who identify with the Asra Kadisha organization, which is supported by Rav Zalman Leib Teitelbaum of Satmar and whose president is Rav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss – who have spent days protesting where the new Ramat Avraham http://matzav.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gifneighborhood will be built will heed the strong words of Rav Kanievsky and Rav Karelitz. It is hoped that enough pressure will finally be applied to put a halt to the violent polemics against the construction.

  1. and when will the supporters of Asra Kadisha issue their condemnations?

Follow the buck $$$$ and you will see clarity!

  2. Sooner or later, one of these thugs, or a group of them, will attack a cop, who will understandably use his gun to protect himeself, and the thug will end up dead or wounded. It will be a disaster, and unless more people openly and vocally protest this behaviour, it will also be inevitable.
