It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Dovid Sharfman zt”l, beloved mashgiach ruchani at Yeshiva Toras Chaim Toras Emes of Miami.

Rav Sharfman was a noted talmid chochom who connected with his many talmidim, inspiring them collectively and individually.

In his youth, Rav Sharfman grew up in Brooklyn, NY, attending Yeshiva Toras Emes in Boro Park.

Rav Sharfman then attended Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim, where he received semichah.

Rav Sharfman joined the staff of Yeshiva Toras Chaim Toras Emes of Miami’s Bais Medrash Zichron Ezra over 15 years ago. His awe-inspiring talents as a rebbi were surpassed only by the love and devotion he lavished upon each and every bochur, a combination that earned him the profound respect and admiration of his talmidim, parents and colleagues alike.

In his capacity as mashgiach ruchani at Yeshiva Toras Chaim Toras Emes, Rabbi Sharfman was admired for the countless hours he dedicated to and spent with each talmid.

Rav Sharfman’s father, Rabbi Benjamin Sharfman, served in the rabbinate for 40 years, and Rav Dovid was inspired by the leadership he saw in his father to go on to be marbitz Torah and impact others. Rabbi Sharfman’s highly popular Sunday morning shiur was a “must-attend” event for many of the Miami community’s baalei batim.

Rabbi Sharfman, with the support of his dedicated wife, Mrs. Shifra (nee Kanin) Sharfman, opened his home to the talmidim of the bais medrash.

Professionally, Mrs. Sharfman’s dedication to the children of the community in her role as a speech/language pathologist has contributed greatly to their overall hatzlacha.

Rabbi Sharfman was a rare combination of talmid chochom, mashpiah, friend, advisor, and role model to so many people. His yiras Shomayim, ahavas Hashem, ahavas haTorah, ehrlichkeit, feinkeit, and hasmadah were on unique levels that served to inspire others to reach higher, and his advice, encouragement, wise counsel and rare acumen joined to make him a truly singular individual.

His passing has plunged his many friends, talmidim and admirers into mourning.

Rabbi Sharfman is survived by his wife and their 8 children, one of whom got married last week and the youngest of whom is 9 years old.

The levaya will take place today at 11:30 a.m. at Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim, located at 76-01 147th Street in Flushing, NY. Kevurah will follow at Beth David Cemetery, located at 300 Elmont Road in Elmont, NY.

Yehi zichro boruch.
