Rav Edelstein: Vote Like Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky

21

Rav Gershon Edelstein, rosh yeshiva of Ponovezh Yeshiva and member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah in Eretz Yisroel, told talmidim of his from the US who asked him for whom to vote in today’s US presidential election to follow the rosh yeshiva of Philadelphia, Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky, and vote for the candidate he supports.

Rav Kamenetsky instructed his talmidim to vote for Donald Trump, as did many other roshei yeshiva.

In answering his talmidim, Rav Edelstein said that Rav Kamenetsky is the “mara d’asra” of the United States and that Torah Jews should follow his guidance.

By and large, members of the Torah world have endorsed and are voting for Mr. Trump in today’s election.

The Torah world has traditionally identified with the Republican Party because of its conservative stances, unlike the secular Jewish majority that identifies with the Democrats.

Chassidic groups have aligned themselves with more liberal-leaning Democrat candidates, such as Hillary Clinton. The Chassidim of both rebbes of Satmar have been instructed to vote for Clinton in this election.

  1. Chazak ubaruch! Clear daas Torah to be followed. Kol hakavod. And thank you for sharing this. This should be printed out and hung in all shuls.

  2. Being a chossid myself, I feel the reason for it is that the chassidish world by and large are simply unaware of how terribly crooked the Clintons truly are in every aspect of life: politically, morally, monetarily, socially, ideologically, you name it. Political and monetary misdeeds are coming out drop by drop. But the horrendous truth about her moral standards, values and misdeeds are not known at all. It’s a SIN to vote for her! Yes, I am Chassid, but I am a child of HaShem, the Torah my banner. Do some true research. You’ll regret ever voting for her. The truth is hair raising!!

  3. “Chassidic groups have aligned themselves with more liberal-leaning Democrat candidates, such as Hillary Clinton.”

Lubavitchers are more for Trump I think.

  4. Gut feeling, the toeivah issue is more concerning than another holocaust.

Really, if we realize that social security, national expression, social valued work day improved humor and human welfare is important, we do consider a democratic candidate.

The GOP appeals if you want lower taxes for higher income brackets, a more involved work place regulated experience and perhaps some moral and social issues that are poorly thought out in a more progressive cultural easy future.

Davening to ask for higher guidance is more than listening to the rabbi’s popular hope. You might yearn to get the answer from Hashem.

    Good luck voting.

  5. Here in boro park every chossid I spoke to is voting Trump. It is true that leadership in Satmar and Skver said to support Hillary but more than half are voting Trump. Ask around and you will see. With hillary and Supreme Court liberal judges, schitta and bris is in danger my fellow yidden.

  6. Daas Torah is against Hillary. Just to be don lechaf zechus: I don’t recall any chasidishe rebbes coming out for Hillary – only the self proclaimed “askanim”.

  7. Anyone with Torah values dear to them, would recognize on their own that voting for Trump is the only option. Those that chose to vote for Clinton made their decisions not in accordance with true Torah values. Sad.

  8. NJ and NY will go for Clinton in either case. I could not bring myself to vote for either one of them, and did not hear of this unconfirmed opinion of the R”Y when I voted. I subsequently heard but did not confirm that Rav Yeruchim Olshin, R”Yin BMG of Lakewood also endorsed Trump.

  9. My cousin asked Reb Shmuel Kaminetsky at a simcha, two times to clarify, and the Rosh Yeshiva answered “vote for trump” and that” he’s not the best man, but under the circumstances..”. and “she (Hillary) should be in jail..”
