  2. I remember Rav Wenger, z”l, from his days in New England Hebrew Academy in Boston (40 years ago). He was the veritable life of the school. Yehi Zichro Baruch.

  3. Rabbi Wenger authored a very nice Halacha of the Day article published on shmais.com. I will deeply miss this column and I wish his beloved family much comfort in these times.

  4. I tried to call the number: 514-737-5446 but got the error message: “You’re call cannot be completed as dialed.”

I called the office of Yeshiva Gedola, which had the number of, Yibodel L’Chaiyim, Rav Eliezer’s brother, Rav Yoel Chanan, Sh’lita: 514-739-8410.

Please clarify the correct number for condolence calls.

    Thanks.

  5. Boruch Daiyan HaEmes!!

I briefly met Rav Eliezer, ZT’L, in the following way. For a number of years, he was one of the rabayim at the Torah day school in San Francisco. Around that time, I was attending Yeshiva Gedola in Montreal, where I had contact with, Yibodel L’Chaiyim, his brother, Rav Yoel Chanan, Sh’lita. As I live in the SF metropolitan area, one year when I was going to my parents for the Pesach Bein Hazmanim, Rav Yoel instructed me to take part in a gathering that his brother was making on Chol HaMoed for the local Bnei Yeshiva where each one would say a piece of pilpul that he had learned.

In Yeshiva Gedola, at one point one of men I learned with was put in a special chabura with Rav Yoel Chanan. As this little mini shiur was given during the time of this seder with this chavrusa, Rav Yoel allowed me to also attend. The level of the chabura though, was far, far, far too advanced for me. What I was able to see though, is that Rav Yoel is a fantastic super lamdan!

Years latter, I heard that Rav Yoel Chanan leads the yeshiva chabura that learns the Yoreh Deah Inyanim for S’meecha.

  6. Followup of previous remark.

Tonight, I got through to the house of Rav Yoel Chanan, and the Rebbitzon told me that the correct number of Rav Eliezer’s house, where condolences should be called, is:
    514-739-5446.
