It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rabbi Elimelech Leib (Tommy) Kohn zt”l of Riverdale, NY. He was 59.
Born on 6 Cheshvan 5714, October 10, 1953, in Hungary, Rabbi Kohn was a noted talmid chochom and mashpiah who greatly impacted numerous people during his fruitful life.
A talmid of Telshe Yeshiva in Chicago, he maintained a close kesher with the rosh yeshiva, Rav Avraham Chaim Levin, and was the director of the Adult Education Program of Riverdale Yeshiva.
A remarkably erudite individual, Rabbi Kohn was unique for his ahavas haTorah, his clarity of thought, his pedagogic skills, and his desire to bring others to spiritual fulfillment and greater levels of Torah learning and comprehension. With his sterling middos and endearing personality, Rabbi Kohn was a magnetic force whose passing leaves so many friends, acquaintances and admirers bereft.
Rabbi Kohn is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Chana Leah (nee Prager) Kohn, and his children, Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchok Kohn, Mr. Esty Werther, Eliakim, Avrohom Yeshaya and Binyamin Zev.

BDE: the tzaros in klal yisroel juse gets worse & doesn’t stop or come to an end R”L
does it ever come to your attention to sometimes stop & ask ourselves why Hashem would give us such tragic tzaros & never stop?
perhaps its time we faced major problem affecting the entire world today- myself included.
The situation in Eretz Yisroel & in the Diaspora is very bad from Terrorists to the entire Economy going down etc If anyone should ask why are all these Tzaros Happening to Klal Yisroel he only needs to look at what the Rambam says. Saying that as long as we remain ignorant of the present troubles that we have & what the reasons are that they are happening. The situation can only get worse until Mashiach comes. With the society we are living in today we (sadly) CONSTANTLY need reminders (wake-up calls) from HASHEM for us to do Tshuva & return to HASHEM so all this Tzaros can end & Mashiach comes
i.e. we have a major problem in todays society. its called facing reality, I.E. when tragedy strikes %99 of us live in denial & block it from our faces & just move on in life, cause we cant face reality & admit that we get Hashems wake-up call & we will improve
May hashem help all of us wake up & face reality
May his neshama have an aliya & may we do teshuva in his zchus
He also was a talmid in Telz Cleveland.
A real Talmud chochom in all areas of Torah . A very irreplaceable person. A huge loss for the community
is there any levaya or shiva info for Eretz Yisrael?
