The condition of Maran Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv remains critical, but a procedure performed this morning on the posek hador related to his failing kidney was successful. Doctors at Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center did not discuss details of the procedure, but they did say that it proceeded positively. The high-risk, but necessary, procedure was performed following consultation with Rav Elyashiv’s family and some of the foremost experts in the field.
Doctors are monitoring the 101-year-old posek hador around the clock, trying to address his various ailments, including water in his lungs.
Rav Elyashiv remains in the cardiac unit on the tenth floor of Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center, as he is now in the hospital for five weeks.
Klal Yisroel is asked to continue davening for Rav Yosef Shalom ben Chaya Musha.
