Rav Elyashiv Writes First Letters in Rennert Sefer Torah for Gilad Shalit
The posek hador, Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, wrote the first letters in a Sefer Torah dedicated to the safe return of captured soldier Gilad Shalit yesterday, reports Etrog News.
The idea of writing of the Sefer Torah began on Chol Hamoed during a meeting between Rav David Abuchatzeira, Rav Aharon Binah of Yeshiva Netiv Aryeh and Mr. Ira Rennert, the noted askan who has in the past donated hundreds of Sifrei Torah to countless shuls. Rav Abuchatzeirah expressed his desire for a Sefer Torah to be written in the zechus of Gilad Shalit in hope that he will be freed and safely returned to his family. Rabbi Randt agreed immediately and announced that he would begin the writing of the Sefer Torah right after Chol Hamoed. Rav Abuchatzeirah wanted Rav Elyashiv to be the first one to write a letter in the Sefer Torah, which he did last night. Other gedolim and rabbonim are expected to write osiyos over the next few weeks.

Does anyone have contact info for Rabbi Randt? I know a few shuls that can use sifrei Torah, if he is looking to donate some more.
Thanks

#6, #5 makes a very good point: everyone should do THEIR SHARE for ALL those who need a yeshua - every Yiddishe neshoma counts!
